With the increased use of computers for learning, and smartphones for staying in touch with friends and family during the school year, it's even more important for students of all ages to be mindful of their exposure to artificial light. Prioritizing sleep is also essential for mood, focus, and peak performance in the classroom. Get your kids ready for the next school year and beyond with TrueDark’s back-to-school selection of blue light blocking glasses! • • All TrueLight products are also 20% off for a limited time! These light therapy devices utilize a patent-pending combination of LED technology that can safely and effectively help stimulate cellular healing, muscle recovery, and collagen production. If your child plays a sport, or has any aches and pains, for example, light therapy may offer pain relief and faster, deeper healing. 🧘‍♂️ • • Good luck to everyone heading back to school, we’ll see you in the classroom‼️
⚠️ Workaholics, this is for you. ⚠️ We know, sometimes it’s hard to put the phone down or to put work away at night, or to stop scrolling through our Instagram feeds! More screen time means more exposure to artificial blue light and a greater risk of disrupting your natural sleep/wake cycle. • • For those of us that need a little push setting healthy sleep boundaries, consider a pair of what we like to call our “in-between” sleep-hacking glasses: the TrueDark Twilight Sunset style. • • This particular style has gradient lenses that are darker on the top and slightly lighter on the bottom. This is intentionally designed so that you can still read and write or walk around your house at night time (without tripping over your dog!) without prolonging your body’s ability to fall asleep at night time. • • Please note: these glasses are specifically meant for night time use only, and/or if you’re trying to avoid jet lag while traveling. The technology in the lenses is designed to help calm your mind and body down so that you can fall and stay asleep. Please DO NOT wear these glasses while driving or operating heavy machinery. But you can watch another episode on @netflix with them on. 😉😎
#Schizophrenia is one of the leading causes of disability throughout the world, affecting about 1% of the population — approximately 3 million in the U.S. alone. • • The condition is often associated with difficulty processing thoughts and emotions, as well as insomnia and disrupted sleep-wake cycles. There is now new research coming from @pittofficial that takes a deeper look at the link between #circadianrhythms, which help regulate natural sleep wake-cycles, and schizophrenia. • • The researchers leading the study specifically “looked at gene expression in the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex, a brain area involved in cognition and memory...They also examined the rhythms by which some genes switched on and off in the brains of people with schizophrenia, and compared these rhythms with those in the brains of people who did not have the condition” (Medical News Today). • • To put it simply, the researchers found disruptions in the rhythmicity of gene expression specifically in the brains of people with schizophrenia.
