We’re Hiring: Do You Love Browsing The Middle Aisle of Lidl?

As many Brits will know, Lidl and Aldi’s ‘middle aisles’ have an almost cult following, and are famous for housing extremely random, but also useful bargains relating to all parts of domestic life. Whether it’s bluetooth speakers, hedge trimmers, or exotic meats – the middle aisles are home to everything you couldn’t ever think of, but somehow feel like you probably need once you’re there.

Recently though, these aisles have boasted a new wave of products, so sought after that they’ve sold out in stores across the UK. From Lidl, we’ve seen its clothing line become a customer-favourite all over the country, while Aldi’s Kevin The Carrot range continues to contain some of the most sought after plush toys in Britain.

However, with stock short and people missing out on product drops, we decided to try and do something about it, and this is where you savvy shoppers come in.

We’re hiring for the position of ‘Middle Aisle Shopper’ and are initially looking to recruit three members of the public. The chosen shoppers will need to find and purchase the latest must-have bargains from Lidl and Aldi, so customers who weren’t able to buy them locally in store can purchase them online via our site for the same price.

We’re on the hunt for three people to become our Middle Aisle Shoppers, and are offering the chosen candidates £30 an hour on a PAYG basis. See below for role requirements and responsibilities:

Candidate Requirements:

  • Must be able to work flexibly and remotely on a freelance basis.
  • Must be over 18.
  • Must have access to a computer or smartphone.
  • Must be able to travel to at least one Lidl and Aldi store.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Find and purchase specific, limited edition products (WeThrift will inform successful candidates of the item ahead of time).
  • Contribute to the research of upcoming brand merchandise releases.
  • Send all purchases to WeThrift’s headquarters for processing (postage & packaging will be paid for).

Each Middle Aisle Shopper will be given £500 to spend on items. The main aim of each shopper is to ensure that consumers from other areas of the UK can purchase limited edition products at the same price seen in the likes of Lidl and Aldi, if their local store sells out, via the WeThrift website.

Think you’ve got what it takes to become the world’s first ‘Middle Aisle Shopper’? Please apply below:

Applications close February 11th, with successful candidates being selected by February 18th.

Nick Drewe, founder of WeThrift said,

“In the UK we know that people have an affinity for reselling products, whether its old sofas, second hand trainers, or Aldi’s Kevin the Carrot plush toy, if there’s a buck to be made the entrepreneurial British people will be selling it. However, sometimes a product is particularly popular in one area, therefore hundreds of consumers may miss out. We want to ensure that everyone has the chance to buy a converted middle aisle product! Our hope is to get all of the candidates confirmed by the middle of February, so if you love browsing the middle aisle of a discount supermarket, please get in touch!”
