I sent a tentative message to one of my friends this morning. It’s a message all moms dread sending. Our friends had us and the kids over for dinner the other night and today we found out today that Reggie is super sick/contagious (re: we could have infected their kids/entire house). We obviously didn’t know Reggie was sick, otherwise we wouldn’t have gone. But it’s still stressful. It’s like awkward mom version of telling someone you have an STI.
I was dreading the response. What if she disowns me as a friend? Never wants our kids to hang out again? Because I get it. A sick kid is no fun. It’s downright stressful. But instead I received the complete opposite: “Poor guy! We can’t live in bubbles so if our kids get it, they get it. No worries!”. She was so kind and understanding (even if she was secretly freaking out) and I am so grateful for this. As moms we constantly worry, we feel guilty, we stress out about everything. But it’s nice to know that we have other moms in our corner that are gentle and supportive (and won’t hold anything against us if our kids give their kids some sort of sickness that’s going around). ♥️♥️♥️
