About a month ago, my mom and I got to share a really special experience with my Nanny. She showed us step-by-step how to cook her favorite meal: made-from-scratch chicken n’ dumplins. Lemme tell ya, they were incredible! 😍Nanny has always been the best cook in our family. Whatever special ingredients and secrets she used, everything she made was a masterpiece (I know it’s love).
I was blessed with another special experience with her tonight. The last few weeks have been rough on her with the loss of Pappy and her own failing health, and she’s now at a point where she’s so weak from the cancer, she can barely speak or move and she mostly sleeps. But tonight, I got the urge to read some scripture to her, even if she was resting. Mom had told me that one of her favorite books is Philippians, so I went over to her bed and said to her, “Nanny, can I read you some of Philippians tonight? You know, because I know Philippians 4:13 is your favorite, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. As I was saying those words to that verse, her eyes were closed, but she mouthed them right along with me! I love this woman so much and I’m so thankful for little moments like these.
